This is a heavyweight engineering and management role with an innovative civil engineering contracting business. Based from their luxurious head office your brief will be wide and diverse covering both Deign and Construction engineering solutions. Principal duties include:
- Management of the design process according to company procedures to ensure that the design of the permanent works is managed and completed to the requisite quality and in accordance with the contract programme and budget.
- Monitor the Designer’s performance and target effective Design Freeze points that allow the programme to be maintained.
- Organize regular Design Review Meetings and ensure the outcomes are distributed to all interested parties.
- Ensure the production of a project specific design Process Map identifying key logic and interfaces.
- Ensure all design documentation and revisions are distributed to the relevant personnel in the project team.
- Provision of functional guidance and support to site engineers as appropriate.
- Contract: Agree scope of works with designer, agree deliverables programme, recommend fee proposals for acceptance with Project / Contracts Manager, agree communication lines between site and designer, manage the Technical Query Process (SC-27), monitor performance. Manage and record all design changes.
- Post Contract: Designer KPI, contract close-out.
- Manage temporary works designs, through close liaison with the Temporary Works Co-ordinator.
- Demonstrate compliance with the current CDM regulations and ensure Designer’s Risk Assessments are communicated to the construction team.
- Liaise with Permanent Works designers to resolve issues of construction method and buildability as necessary.
- Record the technical Lessons Learned on the Project and forward to the Chief Engineer after Project Close Out.
The successful candidate will be a degree qualified Chartered Civil Engineer and possess a main civil engineering contracting background with major highways project exposure.
