Commercial Manager - London
The Role:
This is an opportunity for an experienced commercial manager to make their mark with this market leading parking company. Their national parking operations extend over more than 700 sites around the country with a large concentration of premium locations in central London. In this role you will assume full strategic and P&L responsibility for the performance of your region. With a large team of business managers, team leaders and field operatives ultimately reporting to you, your people management skills will need to be first class. Operating with a high degree of autonomy and initiative you will develop and agree budgets and then perform against them. Your core responsibility is the operation of the car parks to rigorous financial and customer service standards, but you will also need to have effective business development skills. Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing leadership, management and direction to a team of parking professionals. This will include overseeing individual development and training and ensuring that your operations are fully staffed at all times.
• Managing the business to deliver the financial targets set out in the business plan. These targets may vary between sites owned by the company and those managed by them on behalf of other owners.
• Identifying opportunities to grow the business within your region and devising plans to implement that growth.
• Developing a close working relationship with the company’s national operations centre and maintaining effective channels of communication between the centre and your team.
• Taking responsibility for client relationships (local authority and others) within your region and acting as the senior point of contact for these relationships.
The Person:
Candidates for this position should have considerable management experience in a customer facing environment. A background in retail, leisure or hospitality may be an advantage but our client is willing to look at any relevant transferable experience. You must show you are capable of taking full P&L responsibility and have the financial acumen to do this. You will also need to demonstrate that you can lead and inspire the diverse regional team and make an impact from day one. To be successful you will also need:
• A high degree of integrity, personal self discipline and a strong work ethic.
• Great people management skills with the ability to quickly earn the respect of your teams.
• A comprehensive grasp of budgets and profit and loss accounts. You will be highly numerate and capable of understanding and identifying the drivers of the business and its cost centres.
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence and ability to deliver formal reports and presentations both to clients and company management.
• A flexible approach to the job, being prepared to challenge the norms and capable of using your initiative.
